Agave Spirit vs Vodka, Gin and Rum: What's Actually Different
All clear or light spirits at a glance. The base ingredient changes everything about the glass.
Vodka and gin are typically distilled from grain or potato, engineered to be as neutral as possible, gin then reintroduces flavour through botanicals. Rum comes from sugarcane or molasses, agave spirit from the agave plant itself.
That base ingredient is why agave spirit can't be neutral the way vodka is. It carries genuine vegetal, roasted and mineral character from the plant and the roasting process, even before oak gets involved.
If you're used to gin or rum cocktails, agave spirit slots into the same mixed-drink role but brings a completely different flavour foundation, less juniper, less sweetness, more green and earthy.
